After 14 years, IBSA’s zone strategy is receiving its first significant remodel. The move will map the state into 5 regions rather than 10 zones.
Each geographic region (Northern, Central, Southern, Chicago, and Metro East) will still have a locally based consultant to serve as a nearby connection for churches and local associations. However, the new strategy provides for most consultants to be “in the field” more hours each week and sets a new target: identify and gather local leaders from multiple different areas of church ministry.
The gatherings, held online and in-person several times per year, will help strengthen regional relationships between leaders and provide forums for encouragement, sharing of ideas, and equipping.
“We’re excited about implementing the regional strategy statewide,” Associate Executive Director Mark Emerson said. “We’ve tested this strategy through the work of Bob Dickerson in southernmost Illinois over the past year and seen encouraging results.”
IBSA first implemented the zone strategy in 2012 in response to changes in North American Mission Board funding which affected local associations.
