Springfield | Jeff Deasy and his wife, Kathy, are headed home to Tennessee following his retirement after 10 years as IBSA Administrative Director for Operations. He oversaw finances, human resources, and properties. Their ministry began with pastoral leadership in worship in the Volunteer State. Then they spent 20 years with the International Mission Board in Brazil and Kenya.
Deasy’s specialty was logistics. He arranged for onboarding and travel for missionaries coming to those regions. The husband-and-wife team also instrumental in planting new churches in those countries and raising up indigenous pastors.
Moving back to the U.S. in 2016 as part of IMB’s voluntary reduction in force, the Deasys were active in many ministries at Chatham Baptist Church, while Jeff worked for IBSA. Kathy taught piano lessons and English language (ESL) classes. They remain active leaders in the Christian Motorcycle Association.
The couple was honored with a retirement dinner at the IBSA building, with representatives from various phases of their ministry sending videos from their mission fields and some traveling to Springfield to share well-wishes. The musical couple entertained with a four-hand piano duet of “The Hallelujah Chorus.”
In the next season, they will serve with a local church as God opens the door, and enjoy time with their children and grandchildren.
