A couple from Illinois will be among 58 people commissioned by the International Mission Board (IMB) at next week’s Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Anaheim, California. The couple cannot be named because of the security level of the place where they will serve, but for public records they will be known as Lyle and Melody Strong. They will be assigned an undisclosed country in the Asia and Pacific Rim area.
Of the 58 individuals to be commissioned, 37 will operate under closed security due to the possible threats to Christians and missionaries in the locations where they will be assigned.
The ceremony will be part of the IMB presentation at the Anaheim convention, led by IMB President Paul Chitwood. It is scheduled for the first SBC business session on Tuesday, June 14 at 11:20AM (CT).
