The 68-member Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Executive Committee (EC) met February 21-22 in Nashville where members heard from the committee’s new law firm, Bradley Legal. The firm is representing the SBC EC as interim legal counsel in the on-going sexual abuse investigation as voted by messengers to the 2021 Southern Baptist Convention. The Missouri Pathway reports the new firm’s ties to the Human Rights Campaign, the Nashville Pride Festival, the LGBTQ Bar, and other organizations whose views conflict with traditional Bible teachings.
Since 1966 the SBC EC had been represented by the law firm of Guenther, Jordan, & Price, but the firm resigned last year after the Committee voted to drop attorney-client privilege as directed by messengers in a vote at the 2021 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tenn.
